Day 8 our last day in China November 20 2006
We got up this morning and got cleaned up had our last breakfast on china. After breakfast John and I went for a walk down the street to see the neighborhood around the hotel. We walked by a Chinese fire department, later we talked to Sunny our tour guide and she told us that the Chinese military runs the fire departments. We found a small shopping center and had a good look around. In the store they had a Pepsi department that sold Pepsi cloths, shoes and other Pepsi items. I bought a Chinese “The Beatles in America" CD. The Chinese store was similar to our stores here in the USA, but lots of the prices where cheap.
Walking around the area was neat; we crossed the street that was busy. Felt like we where taking our live in our own hands crossing the street.
Got back to the hotel and finished packing and watched a little TV before we went down to hotel lobby to get on the bus for our trip to the airport.
Got checked into the airport several hours before our flight to Beijing.
The flight from Shanghai to Beijing was great, each seat had its own TV screen and we had our choice of movies to watch. This was great for helping the time go by much faster, wish we had this on our plane flight home.
Got to Beijing and got our luggage and checked in for our flight home. The flight should last between 9-14 hours. Some people believe the flight home will be faster due to the wind is blowing in the same direction we are going. On the flight we flew over Anchorage Alaska and got to see the airport, city and the surrounding mountains. We where in the air for 11 ¾ hours, got off the plane in LAX and then waited for the bus to come and take us home. The bus ride home was okay. Got home and Debbie Koch picked us and brought us home.
We had a great time in China and would love to go back, maybe one of these days we will go back.
