Day 7, November 19, 2006

Last full day in China, we woke up early in the morning and got ready for breakfast and our last full day in Shanghai China.  We proceeded to Shanghai Qiciai Silk Company to look silk rugs.  Amazing rugs, when looking form one direction they are one color then turn them around and they change colors.  Of course these rugs are hand made and sell from $300.00 to $50,000.00+.  This rug company also had furniture and other items for sell.  One could easily spend many thousands of dollars.

After looking at rugs some of us crossed the street and went down one of the side streets to see how the Chinese sell their wares.  The smells and sights where amazing and some of the food items for sell looked very good but we where warned no to eat from the street vendors for our digestive systems may not be able to handle the food items without getting sick.

After our exciting walk down the street we went out to lunch of Mongolian B.B.Q restaurant.  John and I know what to do for we have eaten Mongolian before, the food was great and we ate our fill.

After lunch we did some shopping in the shops near the restaurant and did not spend to much money.

We drove to the main river running through Shanghai to view the old and new skyline.  We saw the old part of town on one side of the river and on the other side the new building where around 20 years and younger.  After this we went to “China town” to do some shopping, this part of town is nothing but store after store after store.  We bought some Chairman Mao watches, Olympic 2008 hats, some jade for one of the people John works with and some LED flashlights.

We had our last dinner in China at a restaurant in China town, after dinner we went on a boat ride on the river to see the city at night.  The city looks beautiful at night and some of the buildings had LED’s on them and it made pictures on the side of buildings.  Again amazing.

We made it back to the hotel to relax and get ready for tomorrow, our last day in China.
